The Severn Foundation School Committee was established in November 2004.
The Committee is chaired by the Foundation School Director. Membership includes representatives from the Trusts (acute and partnership), Primary Care, Bristol Medical School and Severn PGME, along with foundation doctor reps.

Terms of Reference:
- To facilitate the University/Severn PGME/NHS interaction required during the Foundation Programme
- To receive and implement national directives relating to the recruitment to and delivery of Foundation Programmes
- To develop and implement the Foundation School strategy
- To facilitate exchange of information relating to the Foundation Programme
- To ratify and monitor the educational design, content and delivery of Foundation Programmes
- To ratify local policies and procedures relating to Foundation Programmes
- To oversee the quality of the teaching and learning experience, and the assessment of Foundation Programme doctors in training
- To action directives from GMC relating to the Foundation Programme
- To receive and consider reports of Quality Management Visits to Trusts that are relevant to the Foundation Programmes
- To receive reports from national postgraduate education committees and groups that are relevant to Foundation Programmes
- To receive foundation doctor feedback
- To report to the Bristol Medical School Faculty Board, Severn PGME Heads of School and Severn PGME Executive Group meetings
Frequency of Meetings:
Not less than four times per year.
