General information about how foundation training is organised at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Teaching information The Trust’s foundation programme takes advantage of the wide range of educational opportunities available at the main YDH Trust site and the neighbouring Women’s Hospital. Based on GMC/PMETB requirements, the programme is designed to give doctors a good grounding in a number of clinical areas including surgery, general medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, care of the elderly and emergency care. The F2 programme includes a GP placement in the South Somerset area. The rotations are underpinned by weekly educational sessions held specifically for F1 and F2 doctors covering a range of professional and clinical skills. Foundation Doctors are encouraged to take part in the monthly multidisciplinary Grand Round programme, monthly specialist Clinical Governance meetings and the Trust wide Clinical Governance sessions.
